Tuesday’s Teaser – The Stolen Girls

Welcome to this week’s Teaser Tuesday!

The rules are simple:

    • Grab your current read
    • Open to a random page
    • Share one or two sentences from that page
    • Avoid spoilers – Pick a sentence that doesn’t give too much away

Today’s teaser comes from The Stolen Girls which is the second book in the DI Lottie Parker series by Patricia Gibney. I read The Missing Ones earlier this year and The Stolen Girls is my current read and is due for publication July 6th.

TSG 3About the Book: The young woman standing on Lottie’s step was a stranger. She was clutching the hand of a young boy. ‘Help me,’ she said to Lottie. ‘Please help me.’

One Monday morning, the body of a young pregnant woman is found. The same day, a mother and her son visit the house of Detective Lottie Parker, begging for help to find a lost friend.

Could this be the same girl?

When a second victim is discovered by the same man, with the murder bearing all the same hallmarks as the first, Lottie needs to work fast to discover how else the two were linked. Then two more girls go missing.

Detective Lottie Parker is a woman on the edge, haunted by her tragic past and struggling to keep her family together through difficult times. Can she fight her own demons and catch the killer before he claims another victim?

These are the first few sentences.

It was the dark that frightened her the most. Not being able to see. And the sounds. Soft skittering, then silence. Shifting onto her side, she tried to haul herself into a sitting position. Gave up. A rustle. Squeaking. She screamed, and her voice echoed back. Sobbing, she wrapped her arms tight around her body. Her thin cotton shirt and jeans were soaked with cold sweat. The dark.

Does this sound like something you’d want to read? Share a teaser from your own current read leave me a comment below!
