WWW Wednesday – 10th January 2018

Ten days into January and I have £4 in my reading jar so far! I’m not expecting to manage to read at this rate all the way through the year but if I do manage to read at the same rate as last year I’ll have around £80 to treat myself with at the end of the year!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words

What I’m Reading

UCUndercover Princess

About The Book

When fairy tale obsessed Lottie Pumpkin starts at the infamous Rosewood Hall, she is not expecting to share a room with the Crown Princess of Maradova, Ellie Wolf. Due to a series of lies and coincidences, 14-year-old Lottie finds herself pretending to be the princess so that Ellie can live a more normal teenage life.

Lottie is thrust into the real world of royalty – a world filled with secrets, intrigue and betrayal. She must do everything she can to help Ellie keep her secret, but with school, the looming Maradovian ball and the mysterious new boy Jamie, she’ll soon discover that reality doesn’t always have the happily ever after you’d expect…

A thrilling world of parties, politics and bad ass princesses, this is the first book in the brand new series THE ROSEWOOD CHRONICLES.

I’m still pretty early on in this one, I’ve only read about 7 chapters and it’s being a little bit slow to get started, that said it’s the first book in the series and I often find they take some time to get going, but I’m hoping the real plot kicks in soon.

What I Recently Finished

I was lucky and enjoyed all of the books I read this week. I’ve already reviewed The Missing Girl, you can find it here. My reviews for Need To Know and Nemesis will be following shortly.

What I’m Reading Next

The Burning by Jane Casey

I read Let The Dead Speak by Jane Casey last year, which was the newest book in her detective series, after I finished it I was determined to go back to the start and read the whole series, I even downloaded The Burning straight away but I’ve not got around to reading it yet.

The Things We Learn When We’re Dead by Charlie Laidlaw

This one was sent to me directly by the author, it’s loosely billed as an adult re-telling of The Wizard of Oz and it sounds really interesting! One for the weekend I think.

It wasn’t bad, just not as good as maybe it could have been, it was a little slow going. I’ll still probably pick up the next book, hopefully now the main characters are all introduced it’ll move along a little quicker….

I didn’t hate Undercover Princess but I can’t see it featuring in my top reads of the year either, it was just a bit meh… It’s a series though so I’ll give the next one a go in the hope that all the slightly slow introductions to characters are done…
